OUTPATIENT ADDICTIONS SERVICES

In May 2003, Amethyst House received a renewed three-year accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for addictions community housing and adolescent and adult outpatient treatment. Amethyst House is certified by The Division of Mental Health and Addictions and is an approved provider for the Indiana State Nurses Assistance Program. Amethyst House also provides bilingual counseling services for Spanish speaking clients.
Amethyst House offers outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services to drug court and/or probation participants. We follow ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) placement criteria for outpatient services and the intensive outpatient program guidelines recommended by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). In addition to following the IOP requirements defined by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions, we developed a menu of groups and services that can be combined, based on the needs of the clients, to equal whatever program time requirements may be placed on a participant. This style of program allows us to increase or decrease the amount of service based on individual progress and need, much like the multi-level programs used by probation and community corrections programs to provide both incentives and consequences for offenders.
Amethyst House is committed to keeping our groups and education programs small in order to better serve the individual client. Our basic guideline for therapy groups is no more than 12 clients, and for educational groups no more than 25 clients.
Clients can receive an assessment, enroll in the Hoosier Assurance Plan, if eligible, and begin groups as well as individual and/or family counseling and case management within a week’s time. All sessions are currently conducted at our new administrative and outpatient treatment services location at the corner of 11th and Walnut (645 N. Walnut), Bloomington, IN.
We do not have a waiting list for outpatient programs, and all services are on a sliding fee scale to make them affordable for everyone. Our outpatient treatment clients receive preferential admission to our supportive housing, if housing is a needed service.
Amethyst House is an independent network for enrollment in the Hoosier Assurance Plan. Within our network, we have access to a variety of residential programs throughout the State. Clients who move can be transferred easily to outpatient treatment programs in Indianapolis, Richmond, and Evansville as well as other areas of the state. We are also able to refer clients to Richmond State Hospital.
