Review our 2014 Annual Report
Review our Strategic Plan
History: Amethyst House was founded in August of 1980 as "Ray of Love". The founders were a group of concerned recovering community members that were aware of the need for safe housing for individuals beginning the recovery process from alcohol and other drugs. The name was changed to Amethyst House, Inc. in 1989. Outpatient Services were added in 2000 in Bloomington and in 2001 in Evansville, IN. The Evansville location closed in the end of February, 2012, but Amethyst continues to provide services in the community through Counseling For Change, located at 1133 Lincoln Ave, Evansville, IN 47714 (phone: 812-491-2615).
In mythology, the rich, purple, semi-precious amethyst stone was called "Without Intoxication". The Greeks believed the stone would prevent people from getting intoxicated.
Today, the stone is popular to people recovering and healing from addictions.
