Treatment Group Descriptions
Outpatient Group Treatment
Amethyst House has a variety of outpatient programs available to address substance abuse. Treatment utilizes evidenced based practices with an emphasis on Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Clients are also expected to become involved with Twelve Step recovery meetings. Our programs also provide support and treatment for family members.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs
This twelve week program consists of three group sessions a week. It includes individual and group therapy as well as substance abuse education. Family involvement is highly encouraged. We believe that recovery is possible and requires an interdisciplinary approach. Therefore, we provide a variety of activities designed to address specific issues and concerns. Following successful IOP completion many clients are referred into our continuing care program.
Treatment Groups
This is a 12-week therapy and education program that meets two times a week. It explores the underlying elements and issues of clients recovering from addiction. The purpose of this group is to give participants a thorough understanding of the addictive process and lay the foundation for long-term recovery. This group utilizes a combination of education, discussion, and sharing of personal experience to increase insight and understanding.
Early Recovery Group
This group is designed for clients who are assessed as being in need of treatment however do not meet criteria for higher levels of outpatient care. This is a psycho-educational group that meets one time a week in conjunction with Twelve Step group involvement.
Continuing Care Group
The Continuing Care group is an open-ended weekly therapy group that provides ongoing care to clients who have completed primary treatment. The purpose of this group is to provide clients a supportive, therapeutic setting in which to explore issues in early sobriety such as establishing a sober lifestyle; repairing consequences of addiction such as relationships, finances, employment, or health; socializing, creating new relationships and having fun in sobriety; and spiritual growth. Clients are expected to complete 12 weeks but may continue for a longer time if desired or indicated as part of the individualized treatment plan.
