​After a 2-year hiatus, Amethyst House hosts its 9th Fundraising Concert with indie folk artist, Kevin Morby. This annual event brings together advocates, supporters, and those in recovery to celebrate our work and bring attention to the need for community services for those experiencing and recovering from substance-use disorders. The isolation and stress created by the COVID pandemic has meant more SUD related problems and more people in need of treatment.  At the same time, the pandemic has dealt and staggering blow to our ability to fundraise and keep our houses at full census because of COVID related restrictions.  Attending this event is an enjoyable way to support our mission at a critical time.

Kevin Morby can be hilarious, heartbreaking and poetic all at once. Playful yet political, his tongue-in-cheek humor is so well illustrated it just adds to his cool charisma when on stage. His use of superb lyricism combined with repetition turns an idea into an exploration of meaning and possible outcomes. A lucid, deeply individual artist, his work twists the classicism of Dylan, The Band, or Leonard Cohen, say, into fresh, startling shapes.

Native New Yorker Cassandra Jenkins will open. Jenkins writes with a singular voice and an impressionistic intimacy, making astute observations that dovetail neatly with her blend of folk and lush ambient pop.
All proceeds will benefit Amethyst House. Amethyst House is a Bloomington, IN based not-for-profit United Way agency that provides residential and outpatient services for those recovering from addiction. Amethyst House provides a foundation for recovery by partnering with individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance-use disorders, offering high-quality residential and outpatient treatment services and guidance for healthy living.  Find out more at http://www.amethysthouse.org/

Doors open at 6:30pm for reserved seating event. The estimated length of the show is 4 and a half hours. Ticket prices will increase the day of the show.
